This evening of sensational acoustic music is a benefit for Frannie Leopold, big-hearted musician, midwife, health care provider, and dear friend, who is battling cancer with minimal health insurance. Frannie has served the Mendocino County community in a variety of ways since the early '70s, as physician's assistant at the Coast Clinic, as lay midwife, and as a performer at local music events (including teaching guitar and harmony singing at Lark In the Morning Music Camp). Tonight, some of Frannie's long-time musical friends are assisting her with an evening of music, including Laurie Lewis & Tom Rozum, Jody Stecher & Kate Brislin, the Bluegrass Intentions featuring Eric & Suzy Thompson, Bill Evans, Alan Senauke, and Larry Cohea, soulful Mexican singing and guitar with Cynthia Llano who makes her Freight debut, and a rare appearance by deep-rooted blues guitarist and songmaker Marc Silber. If her health permits, Frannie will join her friends, adding her luscious voice and guitar to this rich musical gathering of some of the Bay Area's finest acoustic musicians.
