Our favorite Texans are back with their spiffy vocal harmonies, polished steel guitar licks, and excellent instrumentals, laced with twisted humor and just-a-hair-short-of-traditional lyrics. With Conrad Deisler and Hank Card on guitars, Tom Pittman on banjo and steel guitar, Boo Resnick on bass, and Darcie Deaville on fiddle, the group's sound and sensibility is part bluegrass, part country, part Cajun, and pure irreverence.
Their latest release, The Drugs I Need, attests to the group's recent impulse to write topical tunes. Hummable ditties like "We've Been Through Some Crappy Times Before," "Xmas Time for Visa," and "Toast the Earth with ExxonMobil" skewer the powers that be with a healthy injection of tongue-in-cheek Lizard humor. Michael Moore even used one of their songs (a cover of Irving Berlin's "I'll See You in C-U-B-A") on the soundtrack for SICKO!
Whether you're hoping to laugh till you're sore, to get a little perspective on curent events, or just to hear some really fine music, this show will certainly fill the bill!
