Over the past several years, Duck Baker and Jamie Findlay, both
accomplished solo guitarists, have developed a new approach to playing
jazz guitar duos. Concentrating on tunes by great composers from Fats
Waller to Thelonius Monk, Duck and Jamie combine their talents for
complex, sophisticated arrangements without ever losing their swing and
sense of fun. Their state-of-the-art acoustic guitar work will appeal to
jazz fans, guitar fans, and anyone else who enjoys good
music.
Reviews of their first album, Out of the Past, have
consistently praised the duo. (Canada's Coda, perhaps North
America's most serious jazz journal, lauded the album's taste, drive, and
variety, recommending it for "anyone who just wants to feel
better.")
Jamie, one of the world's best contemporary acoustic
jazz players, is master of a virtuosic style that often has him compared to
Ralph Towner and Pat Metheny. In addition to his solo and vocalist
accompanist work, Jamie is currently a member of the Los Angeles-based,
the Acoustic Jazz Quartet.
One of the most highly regarded
fingerstyle guitarists of his generation, Duck is best known for his work in
the traditional folk, ragtime, and swing worlds, as well as his dedication to
jazz.
