"one of America's most influential fiddlers, certainly one of the giants of modern fiddling" -- Bluegrass Unlimited
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $19.50

A fiery, innovative master musician dubbed "one of the giants of modern fiddling" by Bluegrass Unlimited, Los Angeles native Richard Greene first attained prominence with Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys in 1966 as one of Monroe's first "northern" band members (Bill himself was heard to brag that "There's not a man in the country that can do what Richard can do with a fiddle").

Richard went on to found the revolutionary folk-rock group Seatrain (in which he pioneered the electric violin), and then returned to acoustic music as one of the undisputed inventors of "New Grass" with his trailblazing bands Greene String Quartet and The Grass Is Greener, collaborating along the way with the likes of Clarence White, The Blues Project, Emmylou Harris, Tony Rice, Jerry Garcia, and Bruce Springsteen.

In 1997 Richard received a Grammy and two IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) awards for his work on the Bill Monroe tribute album True Life Blues, and his 1989 album Sales Tax Toddle was nominated for a Bluegrass Album of the Year Grammy. Richard recently released the album Shufflin' with tonight's hot band, The Brothers Barton, featuring the imaginative playing of mandolinist Paul and guitarist Loren, plus string bass virtuoso Jeff Pekarek.
