All are welcome to join the celebration tonight as virtuoso acoustic guitarist, composer, and singer Peppino D'Agostino appears with a staggering array of special guests in a gala performance marking his birthday weekend. Fiddler Barbara Higbie; youthful guitar proteges, Daniel and Anthony Lavezzo; the Pacific Guitar Alliance (featuring Peppino with David Tanenbaum, Jon Mendle, Larry Ferrara, Marc Teicholz, and Michael Bautista); world-renowned Paraguayan harpist and violinist, Carlos Reyes; Peppino's daughter Aleza D'Agostino and his god-daughter Kelsey Love Russom; and the children's choir VOENA, with Jefferson Award winner Annabelle Marie all take the stage during this action packed evening!
Originally hailing from Italy, Peppino combines technical prowess with the rich lyricism and passion of his Mediterranean heritage. His compositions, marked by dynamic rhythms, constant changes in tuning, and evocative melodies, highlight his distinctive method of playing the fretboard with his left hand while simultaneously creating percussive effects with his right, resulting in a complex mini-symphony of sound.
Peppino, who won Guitar Player magazine's 2007 Reader's Choice award for Best Acoustic Guitarist, now resides in the Bay Area. He has released nine critically acclaimed albums, most recently Made in Italy, which focuses on Italian folk songs and pop songs from the past few decades, as well as classical works and pieces by legendary film score composer Ennio Morricone.
