The powerful performance style of singer-songwriter Hans York is rooted in his years of professional experience playing jazz, alternative rock, Latin music, and American folk music. He is also an impressive singer with a three-octave range and a distinctive guitarist who uses open tunings to to compose music with a broad palate of gorgeous harmonies and innovative textures.

Born in Germany and currently living in Seattle, Hans has also appeared at the Freight lending his powerful guitar chops to the bluegrass/jazz/folk fusion band Lyquid Amber and to Scots fiddler Jamie Laval's trio. Make sure to catch this engaging performer's center-stage turn tonight as he spotlights his original songs, including numbers from his recent CD, Young Amelia, which Hans calls "a subtle journey to explore the hidden recesses of the human heart with outstanding musicianship and deep compassion."

Joining Hans is a stellar ensemble of musicians—cellist Myra Joy, mandolinist and violinist Eva Scow, guitarist Dusty Brough, and Kevin Hill on upright bass.
