hot bluegrass & cool originals
49 Special opens
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Join sparkling songwriter and fabulous singer, Kathy Kallick for an evening of flat-out great bluegrass steeped in Bill Monroe-based tradition, backed by her red-hot band, featuring Tom Bekeny (mandolin, fiddle), Dan Booth (acoustic bass), Greg Booth (dobro, banjo), and Annie Staninec (fiddle) . . . plus some surprise guests. Tonight Kathy and the band perform some new songs and tunes, as well as favorites from the Good Ol' Persons, chart-topping hits, The Kathy Kallick Band, and classics from the bluegrass and country traditions.

Kathy has been leading traditional bluegrass bands on the West Coast since 1975, and her take on the classics, as well as her compelling originals, incorporates the unique perspective and refreshing musical sensibilities that won her a Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Bluegrass Association in 2001. She continues to evolve as an artist, releasing 14 albums (which include over 100 of her original songs), including her recent Warmer Kind of Blue (Copper Creek), and winning a Grammy and two International Bluegrass Music Association Awards for her part on True Life Blues: The Songs Of Bill Monroe.

Expect rousing instrumentals and great songs with all the familiar hallmarks of Kathy's music—passion and humor, literate and lyrical storytelling, a satisfying exploration of human nature, and plenty of down-home warmth.

San Francisco based bluegrass band 49 Special opens tonight's show.
