Intriguing singer-songwriter Vanessa Lowe and her band, Bug Eyed Sprite, return to our stage for a gala evening celebrating the release of her fourth CD, eep.
A clinical psychologist-turned-songstress with a hunger to investigate the underbelly of things, New York native Vanessa—along with cohorts Ben Freelove on bass, Tobias Hawkins on percussion, Kent Sparling on "tiny instruments," and Myles Boisen on electric guitar—tantalizes the ears and boggles the mind with her beautiful and eerie songs. In Vanessa's own words, "The world of these songs is about standing very still and almost holding your breath: waiting and watching to see what's going to creep out at you and whether it will be good or bad. It's like blending into the bark of a tree, or stepping back into a dark alley as the dervish blows by."
Two more things you need to know about this show: every ticketholder gets a free copy of Vanessa's new CD, and proceeds go to the environmental advocacy organization, Environment California.
