brilliant topically satiric songs
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Satirical songwriter Roy Zimmerman strikes a blow for sanity amidst the absurdity with a grueling whirlwind tour of (almost all of the) 50 states in the union, with his eye firmly fixed on November 4th. On his way from Chicago to Albuquerque, Roy makes a special detour to stop in at the Freight for a solo evening of witty tunes guaranteed to restore a sense of perspective to the election campaign season.

A writer of clever, tuneful lampoons for over two decades, Roy founded and wrote all the material for the comedy folk quartet The Foremen. Since then he's skewered American socio-politics on National Public Radio and Air America Radio, in folk clubs across the country, and on solo CDs like his new Thanks for the Support, the fiercely funny soundtrack for his one-man 48-state campaign.

In tonight's special program, Roy performs season-appropriate tunes like "The Man, the Myth, the McCain," "Eine Kleine Barackmusik," and "Ted Haggard is Completely Heterosexual," in styles ranging from scathing to silly, from from Dylan-esque protest song to Vaudeville-style patter.
