Yodeler, songwriter, rancher, and world-famous "Yahooer," Wylie Gustafson is just about as country as a man can possibly get. Serving up an energetic blend of western swing, cowboy, folk, and classic country music, Wylie lets loose and belts out mournful ballads, honky-tonk stompers, and amazing yodels brimming with the romance of the cowboy way. It's honest, soulful music, with a heart as big as the great outdoors, lit by Wylie's cheerful smile and amazing energy, and backed by Ray Doyle's guitar, Rick Bryceson's drums, and the smooth pedal steel sounds of T. Scot Wilburn.
Both on and off his ranch near Dusty, Washington (population 11), Wylie maintains a busy schedule: he recently appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, published a book titled How to Yodel: Lessons to Tickle Your Tonsils, and released his latest recording, Bucking Horse Moon.
. . . and yes, that is his voice you're thrilling to whenever you hear the yahoo.com yodel.
Putting the Western theme right through the roof tonight is a special guest, the award-winning cowboy poet Paul Zarzyski. A longtime fixture at the famed Elko Gathering, Paul has spent the past several decades diving his time between riding broncs on various rodeo circuits and "spurrin' the words wild across fenceless/open range of the blank page."
