Irish and Scottish roots with a new and unique sound
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Formed in 2003, Cara ("friend" in Irish) is a gathering of four young musicians rooted in Irish and Scottish traditional music, with ambitions to create a new and unique sound. Oh yes, and they're all from Germany! This pan-European influence adds a cutting edge to the group's sound, with touches of Balkan, Breton, and German influence. As a testament to the success of their efforts, they more than held their own alongside top Irish acts at the 2007 Boston Irish Connections Festival, winning rapturous audience attention!

On stage and on CDs like their recent In Between Times, Cara showcases the charming charisma and beautiful tight harmonies of frontwomen Sandra Gunkel and Gudrun Walther, and the flawless, spontaneous musicianship of all four members—with Claus Steinort and Jürgen Treyz—on flutes, pipes, fiddle, guitar, and piano.
