Arguably one of folk music’s most engaging performers—and certainly one of its master craftsmen—Cliff Eberhardt enthralls listeners with his biting, clever, and honest originals, full of vivid imagery and intense emotions. Known for couching his ballads in rootsy, folksy arrangements that emphasize his bluesy guitar playing and his soulful vocals, Cliff adds heavy jazz influences to his musical palette tonight as he spotlights numbers from his new CD, The High Above And The Down Below (Red House).
Raised near Philadelphia, Cliff knew he was going to be a singer and songwriter when he was seven years old, and he hasn’t wavered from that plan since. After relocating to New York, he became a driving force in the 1980s Greenwich Village New Folk scene, working clubs, playing guitar, and writing songs for the likes of Richie Havens, Buffy St. Marie, Lucy Kaplansky, and Cry Cry Cry. He has also toured extensively with Patty Larkin, John Gorka, and Cheryl Wheeler.
