A performer of extraordinary warmth and ease, Dougie MacLean is one of Scotland's most respected and popular contemporary folk artists. The gentle-voiced, expressive singer is a talented guitarist and fiddler as well as a superb songwriter and sensitive interpreter of Scottish tradition. He is well known for evocative songs like "Caledonia," "The Singing Land" and "Solid Ground," which capture the natural beauty of his native land, particularly his home in the Tay Valley of Perthshire.

Dougie first gained attention in 1974 when he was invited to join the famed Tannahill Weavers after group members saw him performing as a street musician. He remained with the group for several years before launching a solo career that was interrupted by a short stint with Silly Wizard. These days, Dougie tours the world with his unique blend of profound, lyrical roots-based songs and instrumental compositions, as well as producing other traditional-minded musicians on his own Dunkeld label. He recently released a new CD, Inside the Thunder.
