Simply put, Tommy Emmanuel is one of the greatest guitar players in the world. In fact, he's so well-loved that tickets for his Freight performance last summer sold out before we'd even had time to announce it! This year, we're sincerely hoping that more spacious accommodations at the Roda Theatre will be sufficient to hold you all . . .
A household name in his native Australia, Tommy taught himself to play by ear at age four, began his professional career in Sydney while in his early teens, and has spent the following three decades winning loyal fans throughout the world with his great showmanship, flawless guitar skills, and huge repertoire.
A consummate musician, Tommy was voted Rolling Stone (Australia) magazine's Most Popular Guitarist for two consecutive years; he also performed at the closing ceremonies of the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. He recorded an album with the legendary Chet Atkins, The Day Fingerpickers Took over the World, that won Best Country Instrumental Album at the Nashville Music Awards and was nominated for a Grammy in 1998. Mr. Atkins went so far as to dub Tommy a "Certified Guitar Player," an honor shared by only two other people in the world, Jerry Reed and John Knowles. Tonight Tommy features tunes new and old from his vast repertoire, including selections from his soon-to-be-released CD, The Mystery.
Don't miss this opportunity to see and hear one of the true masters of the instrument!
Famed Austrailian duo, the bluehouse, opens.
