sweet country soul to bluesy rock and roll
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

For the past four decades, Alice Stuart has been entertaining folks with her amazing energy, finesse, and a great sense of humor -- not to mention a voice that could melt the polar ice caps and some of the low-downest guitar licks around. Her renditions of original and classic country blues and ballads are gritty and passionate, and her stage presence is simply captivating. No doubt about it: this woman's got the blues.

Born in Chelan, Washington, Alice first laid hands on her Martin D18 during the early 1960s, immersing herself in the blues after hearing records of legends like Bessie Smith and Blind Willie McTell. In the following years, Alice toured and performed with everyone from Mississippi John Hurt and Doc Watson to Frank Zappa and his Mothers of Invention. She's won heaps of critical praise during her career, as well as honors like receiving the Washington Blues Society's 2005 Best Songwriter Award and being voted Best Guitarist by The Seattle Weekly for the same year. Tonight Alice is joined by her band, the Formerlys (bassist Marc Willett and keyboard player Steven Flynn), who were featured on her latest CD, last year's Live at the Triple Door.
