Whether playing his great-grandfather's harp guitar, his 1930 National resophonic steel guitar or a standard 6-string, Stephen Bennett commands attention with his stellar musicianship, from fiery flat-picked fiddle tunes to delicate fingerstyle arrangements of anything from the Beatles to Tchaikovsky. Raised in New York and currently living in Virginia, Stephen has become known as a true acoustic guitar master ever since he won first place at the 1987 National Flatpicking Championship in Winfield, Kansas.
Although best known for his work on the six-string guitar, live and on CDs like his recent Christmas: Acoustic Guitar Solos, Stephen is also one of the world's premiere performers on the harp guitar. This unique instrument allows him to play conventional six string guitar while reaching up to pluck alternating bass patterns on the lower pitched strings of the arched extension.
