post-modern mythic American music
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Tracy Grammer, who gained widespread recognition for her work with the acclaimed late musician and songwriter, Dave Carter, returns to the Freight for an eloquent evening of song.

With her masterful violin, guitar, and mandolin playing, and a distinctive, velvety voice, Tracy carries on her role as interpreter of Dave's mystical and finely honed songs, including nine of his previously unrecorded compositions she recently included on a new CD, Flower of Avalon (Signature Sounds).

Tracy adds to the mix selections from her other recent recording, The Verdant Mile, featuring many of her own gorgeous originals and gems by the likes of Kieran Kane and Carole King that Tracy describes as "Postcards from various points along the Verdant Mile, a mythical field I walk when I need to reconcile with the rivers I cannot turn, the birds that won't come, and my reluctant angels . . ." Tonight, Tracy is joined by Jim Henry on mandolin, mandola, dobro, and vocals.
