the most innovative & intruiguing instrumental group in Ireland today
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | WE ARE SOLD OUT OF ADVANCE TICKETS FOR THIS SHOW

One of Ireland's hottest traditional bands, Lunasa has been making a name for itself over the past few years with its buoyant rhythms, wondrously tight playing, and inventive arrangements that steer acoustic Irish music into surprising new territory. Known for their fiery style, the band redefines Irish music by going to the heart of its rhythms, seeking out the heartbeat of each tune with its distinctive use of upright bass and percussive guitar. The result is a sound that is distinctly Irish, yet also touches on jazz and other improvisational music forms.

The members of Lunasa have been the backbone of many of the great Irish groups of our time, but in this combination Trevor Hutchinson (formerly of The Waterboys) on bass, Donogh Hennessy (formerly of The Sharon Shannon Band) on guitar, Kevin Crawford (formerly of Moving Cloud) on flute, Sean Smyth (formerly of Donal Lunny's Coolfin) on fiddle, and Cillian Vallely on pipes get the chance to place their considerable talents front stage and center.

Lunasa has released a number of great albums like their 1999 recording, Otherworld (Green Linnet), named best traditional Irish album by both the Irish Voice and Irish Echo newspapers, and 2004's acclaimed live album, The Kinnitty Sessions (Compass).
