Say goodbye to the February blahs when the seventh annual San Francisco Bluegrass & Old-Time Festival comes to town. With some of the very finest artists from the Bay Area and beyond, this is one musical feast that no self-respecting roots music fan should miss. Tonight the Freight is pleased to join the festivities by presenting a hot selection of bands that promise to dish out some of the freshest, tastiest bluegrass the west coast has to offer, featuring Grizzly Peak and the Marty Varner Band, plus others to be announced. Coooome & get it!
A familiar sight at local festivals and clubs, Grizzly Peak has been plying the Bay Area with its high energy traditional bluegrass sound for the past couple of years. Featuring Patti Garber, Ted Garber, Katy Rexford, Jed Mitchell, Dan Norton and Bernie Bishop, Grizzly Peak offers a great mix of heartfelt duets, instrumental barn burners and four-part gospel numbers.
Featuring the talents of 10-year-old guitar sensation, Marty Varner (plus his dad Mark and siblings Angelica and Andrew), the Marty Varner Band has been wowin' the local festivals over the past year. Check out the next generation of Bay Area bluegrass!
