An evening of hot jazz is in store when Head Royce School's Caravan pulls up at the Freight tonight. The independent K-12 college preparatory school's award-winning 21-piece jazz band -- also known as Caravan -- sets our stage sizzling with their repertoire of swing, Latin, funk and straight-ahead jazz standards.

Winners of the first place gold medals in both the big band and combo categories at the Heritage 2002 Festival in Anaheim, the well-traveled ensemble has played throughout the America, British Columbia, at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and in Havana, Cuba. This year's band, one of the best in the school's history, will compete in several jazz festivals including the Redwood Empire Festival, The Folsom Jazz Festival, the Heritage Festival, and the Reno Jazz Festival. Caravan recently released its fifth album.
