Jenna Mammina is a singer of great imagination and artistry. Derk Richardson of the Bay Guardian writes: "She is equally at home with contemporary pop material and jazz standards. Evincing a fundamental purity of tone and communicating a sincere belief in what she sings, she sustains that delicate balance of pop music and fine art."
Raised in a highly musical family in St. Joseph, Michigan, many of Jenna's early heroes were divas from her home state like Aretha Franklin, Betty Carter and Abbey Lincoln. After relocating to the Bay Area in the mid-1980s, she became immersed in both the jazz scene and the women's music community, and launched the touring career that takes her to cabarets and theaters throughout the country and has won her honors like SF Weekly's Jazz Performer of the Year award in 2003. Jenna has released five CDs to date, most recently Inner Smile, which reflect the daring breadth of her musical tastes and her command of a broad range of styles, from Duke Ellington to Steely Dan and U2.
