Wow, what a show! Richard Shindell and Lucy Kaplansky take the stage
together for the first time in far too long: don't miss seeing these two
great singer-songwriters join forces for an amazing evening of solo and
duet music.
The imagery and emotion of Lucy Kaplansky's lyrics
combine with her sumptuous voice to create songs that work their way
deep into the heart. Fusing alternative country, roots rock, and folk
music with rare style and intelligence, Lucy presents her thoughtful songs
about the human condition with warmth and power. Since she left a
career in clinical psychology for full-time singer-songwriterdom a decade
ago, Lucy has released five solo albums, including Ten Year Night,
which received the Association For Independent Music Award for Best Pop
Album in 1999, and her recent, highly acclaimed The Red Thread
(Red House).
An enigmatic songwriter, master guitarist, and
powerful singer, Richard Shindell is known for veering between the bitterly
comic and the profoundly spiritual. A New Jersey-native now living in
Argentina, and a former seminary student, he began composing during
the late 1980s, and his meticulously crafted songs quickly earned him a
word-of-mouth cult following. After several solo albums, Richard teamed
up with Dar Williams and Lucy in the famed "folk supergroup" Cry Cry Cry.
Richard's latest studio album, last year's Vuelta (Koch), was recorded in
Buenos Aires with the band, Puente Celeste.
