Two great folk songwriters grace our stage for a night of truly memorable
music.
A musican with a heartfelt appreciation for the working
people ground beneath the wheels of corporate and governmental
machinery, Jez Lowe fills his songs with fierce heart and acerbic humor as
unflinching and dark as the milltowns of his native Northumbria, in
northeast England. He has the gift of bringing his characters and scenes
to life with luminous spareness and emotional directness. Accompanying
himself on guitar, cittern, dulcimer, and harmonica, Jez features songs
including gems from his recent album, Doolally, recorded with his
band the Bad Pennies.
James Keelaghan develops an intimate
rapport with audiences through his stories and humor, and then leaves
them spellbound with original songs that mine the past for inspiration,
relating extraordinary historical events through the eyes of ordinary
people. The winner of a Juno award (the Canadian Grammy), James has
grown from a popular coffeehouse act in his native Calgary to a festival
and concert hall favorite, displaying a genius for finding his way deep
inside big stories, and supporting them with sure, clear melodies and a
smooth baritone voice. James' latest solo release is Then Again.
