hot bluegrass & cool originals
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $16.50

The Kathy Kallick Band starts off its ninth year with a bang, by celebrating the release of a new album, Warmer Kind Of Blue (Copper Creek). With a unique perspective and refreshing musical sensibilities that won her a Lifetime Achievement Award from the California Bluegrass Association in 2001, guitarist and incandescent vocalist Kathy and her red-hot group -- Tom Bekeny (mandolin), Avram Siegel (banjo), and Amy Stenberg (bass), plus new member, ace fiddler Brian Wicklund -- sparkles and drives. Much of tonight's music will be drawn from the new album, a collection of flat-out bluegrass featuring Kathy's powerful and evocative compositions, hot new tunes from Tom and Avram, Amy's glorious treatments of Jake Landers and Don Gibson songs, Brian's in-the-pocket playing, and distinctive versions of classic songs learned from Jimmy Martin, the Carter Family, and Hank Williams. They'll also revisit some favorites from Good Ol' Persons and "solo" Kathy repertoires, as well as from Walkin' In My Shoes, the group's previous chart-topping release. One thing's for sure: whatever they play, The Kathy Kallick Band always delights with their thrilling vocals, inspired material, dazzling instrumental inventiveness, and more than enough down-home warmth to drive away those January blues!
