explosive acoustic folk from Canada's "bill hillies"
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $17.50

Instrumentally breathtaking, exuberantly clever, irresistably spontaneous . . . it's difficult to sum up a performance by The Bills in just a word or two. The Herald of Scotland settled on describing them as "the aural equivalent of a sequence of multi-flavoured sherbet fireworks seducing your taste buds." In 2002, following the release of their Juno Award-nominated album, All Day Every Day, this Vancouver Island-based quintet formerly known as the Bill Hilly Band was hailed as one of acoustic roots music's most innovative acts.

With their latest Juno-nominated effort, Let 'em Run (RedHouse), Marc Atkinson (mandolin), Chris Frye (guitar and vocals), Adrian Dolan (fiddle, accordion, and piano), Glen Manders (string bass), and Jeremy Penner (fiddle) further hone their virtuosic down-home style. Their inspiration is drawn from a wide range of European stylings, the rhythms of Latin America, the melodies of the Romany peoples, and traditional styles from coast to coast of their own continent, and their shows are simply electrifying. It's probably best to wear rubber-soled shoes, just to be on the safe side.
