One of Australias premier live music acts, the bluehouse brings wicked humor, hot playing, fabulous songwriting, and gorgeous harmony singing to the Freight stage by the bluehouse. Since forming their trio a decade ago in a Melbourne pub, Samantha Harley, Jacqueline Walter, and Bernadette Carroll have gained attention and a devoted fan following in Australia and Britain -- and if recent Freight appearances are any indication, theyve got a burgeoning flock of admirers in the Bay Area as well.
The bluehouse may win hearts with their hilarious stage antics and heartfelt songs, but the centerpiece of the trios performances is without question the achingly beautiful three-part harmonies they bring to bear on their unique blend of jazz, blues, soul, and rootsy pop, which have led to many comparisons with the Indigo Girls. Impressively enough, the bluehouse managed to fund the production of their first two albums, including the recent big, entirely through advance mail-order sales. Come find out why!
