fetes of sonic prestidigitation for the voracious listener
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $16.50

Ready to be transported and electrified, seduced and rhythmicated beyond all expectation? In celebration of the release of their debut CD, ringmaster Keith Terry and his Circus Band Extraordinaire promise to drive you "over mountains of musical mayhem" with their virtuoso playing, rhythmic dancing, and pure bravado. Featuring some of the Bay Area's most renowned performers of jazz, funk, Appalachian, Latin, and world music, this musical carnival features soulful -- and possibly death-defying -- interpretations of classic and original tunes in a performance guaranteed to set jaws a-dropping and toes a-tapping, all at the same time. (If the website is any indication, you can also expect human levitation and sword swallowing, plus some really outrageous hats). Drummer and body percussionist Keith Terry is known for bringing together music, dance, and theater in a multifarious artistic vision full of hand-clapping, palm-rubbing, cheek-popping, chest-whomping rhythm. His intrepid circus cohorts include Linda Tillery (Cultural Heritage Choir) on vocals and percussion, Evie Ladin (Stairwell Sisters) on banjo, rhythm dance, and vocals, Rich Kuhns on accordion, Paul Hanson (the Flecktones) on bassoon, George Brooks on saxophone, David Balakrishnan (Turtle Island String Quartet) on violin, Jeff Cressman (Santana) on trombone, and David Belove (Machete Ensemble) on bass. Who could possibly resist?
