explosive acoustic folk from Canada's "bill hillies"
Door 7:30pm, Music 8:00pm | Purchase advance tickets: $15.50

Instrumentally breathtaking, hilariously clever, irresistably spontaneous, impeccably arranged...it's difficult to sum up a performance by The Bills in just a word or two. Perhaps "utterly exhilarating" would do the job. In 2002, following the release of their Juno Award-nominated CD, All Day Every Day (under their former name, The Bill Hilly Band), this awesome Vancouver Island-based quintet was hailed as one of acoustic roots music's most innovative and talented acts. Drawing inspiration from a wide range of European stylings, the rhythms of Latin America, the melodies of the Romany peoples, and traditional styles from coast to coast of their own continent, The Bills have crafted a witty, virtuosic down-home style all their own that's just impossible to resist. Marc Atkinson (mandolin), Chris Frye (guitar and vocals), Adrian Dolan (fiddle, accordion, and piano), Glen Manders (string bass), and Jeremy Penner (fiddle) offer exuberant, highly theatrical musical explorations that are simply electrifying. It's probably best to wear rubber-soled shoes, just to be on the safe side.
