Austalian comic & pianist

Australian master of mimicry and piano magic, David Scheel takes the Freight by satirical storm with his one-man extravaganza of improvisation, topical comedy, silly accents, and beautiful music. A reformed concert pianist, David has been a well-known name in entertainment since the mid-80s, when his send-up of the music business, "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player", blossomed into a smash hit with which he has been touring the world for the subsequent 15 years.

Setting classical music on its ear with parody bits like A Shorte Hysterical Historie of Musicke - which includes Gregorian chants rendered into a snappy jazz number, a Bach Prelude and an Andrew Lloyd Webber tearjerker played simultaneously on right and left hands, and a miniature concerto based on the 20 worst tunes ever written - David spices things up with side-swipes at modern icons like junk food and corporate sponsorship, then silences the roars of laughter with a beautifully played classical piece.

This is probably the only show in town that can satisfy lovers of classical piano, stand-up comedy fans, and those looking to escape the March doldrums - all at the same time!
