Celtic tradition & innovation from champion fiddler

Dynamic fiddler Jamie Laval and his Seattle-based acoustic trio, including Hannsjoerg Scheid on guitar and Jon Hamar on bass, presents the subtle, expressive style of Celtic music for which Jamie is known. Winner of the 2002 U.S. National Scottish fiddle championship, Jamie instills the rich traditional music of Scotland, Ireland, Quebec, and Brittany with a vigorous and intensely passionate energy.

Jamie's music, born out of his Scottish and Irish roots, is also informed by his time spent playing with classical, jazz, and folk music groups. Besides performing with his trio and at Seattle area contra dances, Jamie composes and records soundtracks for film and television (his trio can be heard on national TV every Monday night playing the theme song for the family drama "Everwood"). Tonight's performance, which showcases numbers from Jamie's recent album, Shades of Green, also features a guest appearance by Fresno banjo artist Evo Bluestein.
