Known for his graceful, passionate playing, Italian fingerstyle guitarist
Franco Morone artfully blends the echoes of the traditional with a variety
of different influences in his evocative compositions. Adhering to the idea
of the "folk process" in which traditional music, while retaining its roots,
evolves continuously to remain fresh and current, Franco translates various
elements of traditional Celtic and Italian music into contemporary styles,
incorporating touches from blues and jazz and utilizing percussive slaps,
open tunings, bottleneck slide techniques, and harmonics that cut across
multiple geographies and musical idioms.
Over years spent teaching and
touring in Europe, the US, and Japan, this master of the six and twelve
string guitars has built a solid reputation for his complex, multi-layered
treatments of melody and harmony and the Mediterranean richness he brings to
all he plays. Tonight he features pieces from his recent album Running
Home (Acoustic Music). |
