Currently working the clubs and orchestra pits of New York City, ex-Berkeleyite Phil Marsh sang and picked his guitar with the Cleanliness & Godliness Skiffle Band at the 1968 opening night of the Freight and Salvage. Phil also performed with the street theater ensemble, the East Bay Sharks, was musical director for the Pickle Family Circus, wrote songs for the San Francisco Mime Troupe, and helped create the Masked Marauders superstar spoof album, a great collection of anonymous, original rock songs that had even Rolling Stone magazine fooled into believing that they were performed by Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, and John Lennon (this classic recording was recently released as a CD by Rhino Records). Tonight, Phil ranges from folk and country to blues and originals including at least one of his classic "sensitive guy, self-pitying extravaganzas," joined by various Skiffle Band mates and other musical cohorts.
