Faye Carol is one of the Bay Area's most creative female vocal stylists, and that's saying a lot in a place where talent is thicker than houses on the hillside. With a husky alto voice honed to a remarkable level of raw directness and intensity, Faye weaves a sumptuous vocal tapestry of gritty blues tunes, jazz standards, and original numbers, using her keen ear for musical invention and an undeniable dramatic flair. Born in Meridian, Mississippi and raised there and on the West Coast, Faye started her career in a church choir. In the late sixties she began performing with r&b bands, and by the seventies she was appearing in jazz, blues, and cabaret venues throughout the America. and Europe, as well as sharing the stage with greats like Marvin Gaye and Ray Charles. The most recent of Faye's five albums is The Flow (World Stage Records). Tonight Faye performs with her stellar trio. |
