Ryan Shupe and the the Rubber Band have created a fresh hybrid of new music influenced by bluegrass but featuring the percussive fervor of jazz, rap, and contemporary country. With hard-driving arrangements and dynamic musicianship that evoke images of Dave Matthews gone bluegrass, the band frames Ryan's thoughtful original songs with hot instrumental solos and spine-chilling vocal harmonies. The group, a past winner of the Telluride National Band competition, and a surprise hit at last year's Strawberry Music Festival, has recently released its fifth album, Live. For tonight's Freight debut, the group feaures Ryan on lead vocals, fiddle, mandolin, and guitar, plus Jeremy Nielsen on bass, Roger Archibald on guitar, Craig Miner on banjo, bouzouki, guitar, and mandolin, and Bart Olson on drums. |
