Known to Freight audiences for his work with the Gryphon Quintet and Gryphon Carolers, and as co-founder of the California Coast Music Camp, Ed Johnson is one of the top guitarists, singers, composers, and teachers in the Bay Area. Tonight his band, Novo Tempo (New Times), presents a sophisticated blend of contemporary jazz, laced with pop, r&b, Brazilian and other South American and Afro-Cuban elements. Ed's original compositions feature distinctive melodies and skillful harmonies, fully realized through soulful lyrics. The performance is in celebration of Johnson's sixth recording project.
