Viviana Guzmán combines her virtuoso classical flute technique with the alluring and compelling musical traditions of indigenous world cultures The native Chilean is dazzling with the sensitivity and mastery in which she expresses the beauty of the many diverse traditional cultures from which she draws her repertoire. A concert soloist since she was in her teen years, Viviana, a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, performs regularly with opera companies and symphony orchestras throughout the world, as well as on the world music circuit. Marked by a distinctive Latin flair, she brings warmth, excitement, and vitality to everything she performs with her rich, deep tone, flawless technique, and inventive improvisation concepts. Pooling from sensual tango sonorities, mixing the fiery passion of Flamenco, and adding seductive Middle Eastern rhythms, tonight's presentation is a dazzling and exotic world music experience. Performers of the World include Enrique Coria, guitar, Clara Guzmán, accordion, Tobias Robertson, percussion, Hector Bezoni, zurna (a double reed oboe-like instrument played throughout Eastern Europe and the Middle East), Jeff Obee, bass. Viviana recently released her third album, Flute Fantasies, a unique collection of Telemann compositions that is a triumph of skill and an adventurous spirit.
