Django-inspired Gypsy jazz

The Robin Nolan Trio was formed in London during the summer of 1992 after returning from an inspirational weekend at the annual Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois-sur-Sein, France, where the legendary gypsy guitarist is laid to rest. Later that year, the band relocated to Holland, where they rehearsed on the streets as "artists in residence" at the famous Leidesplein Square in Amsterdam. Since then, they have played their way onto the international jazz circuit and into some of the world's most prestigious jazz festivals, including the Montreal and Barcelona Jazz Festivals. Following their inspiration in Gypsy jazz, Latin and Hot Club de France, the trio has matured into a contemporary jazz powerhouse boasting an extensive list of original compositions by British lead guitarist Robin, two of which were featured in the recent film, Autumn in New York. Australian Paul Meader on contrabass and Robin's brother Kevin on rhythm guitar complete the trio. Among the group's legion of international supporters are ex-Beatle George Harrison, who often hires the band to play at his English country estate, and country legend Willie Nelson, who says, "You play a mighty fine guitar, Robin Nolan." The group's first American release, Mediterranean Blues, is available on Refined Records.
