Dale Miller, one of the Bay Area's most respected and influential fingerstyle guitarists, coaxes a sweet and mellow tone from his custom Martin and vintage National steel-body, resonator guitars. He applies his seemingly effortless yet technically superb style to blues, ragtime, and jazz standards as well as to his original compositions. Dale became an established acoustic music star with his mid-1970's release, Fingerpicking Rags and Other Delights. Now available for the first time in CD format, this highly influential album has inspired several generations of fingerstyle guitarists as have Dale's six subsequent recordings. Tonight Dale performs selection from his recently released Azzurro Verdi, an album of opera arias arranged for solo blues guitar. Dale will perform selections from the album's which begins with "Questa o quella" from Verdi's Rigioletto, ends with Vija's Song from Franz Lehàr's Merry Widow, and includes seventeen other pieces demonstrating the brilliance of one of the our finest musical talents. |
