Feeling the need for a mid-November pick-me-up? Never fear, the doctor is in! Doctor K, that is, with this month's old-time tinged edition of his show spotlighting Bay Area performers. The Wronglers, Harmon's Peak, and The Roadoilers take the stage for a memorable show guaranteed to cure what ails you.

If your toes need an excuse for tapping, the Roadoilers are the fellas for the job. This string band applies fiddles, banjos, guitars, and bass to old-time tunes and songs from down East, up North, down South, and out West, spiked with rags, jigs, cakewalks, and reels. The band members, Mike Drayton, Perry Fly, John Pedersen, and Chuck Wiley, have a combined 160 years of experience playing old-time and bluegrass music, and it shows!

Bright, uplifting, and authentic, the sound of the quartet known as Harmon's Peak transports listeners to a simpler time, makes children jump up and dance, and purportedly even inclines those in the vicinity to smile at one another and say "howdy." The music they play is traditional American "old-timey": most of it was popular around the time of the Civil War, but it springs right back to life with the sweet sound of two fiddles, a banjo, a guitar and some voices.

The Wronglers (Warren Hellman, Nate Levine, Bill Martin, Krista Martin, Colleen Browne and Chris Hellman) made their stage debut at the world famous Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in 2006, and quite literally had so much fun playing on stage that they just couldn't stop. Their combined bluegrass, folk, and old-time techniques produce an intelligent, intimate sound with an abundance of twang.
