contemporary folk double bill
Door 7:00 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Singer-songwriter Peter Mulvey injects a contemporary edginess into his writing, distilling funk, folk, and rock influences into songs that are dark, quirky, lyrical, and ethereal. The Wisconsin native's compelling, husky voice, and his striking blend of ironic wit and earnest passion shines through in the resonant songs like those found on his new CD, Letters From a Flying Machine, a journey in search of answers to some formidable existential questions.

A prolific songwriter and a memorable live performer, Ari Hest makes his Freight debut with a set showcasing the diversity of his writing. Focusing on songs from his recent 12 Mondays CD, Ari ranges from the haunting "Broken Voices" to the poignant reverie of "The Weight" to the wistful travelogue "Ride the Brake," to create a nuanced mix of mood and tone.
