Last seen on the Freight stage as part of last winter's San Francisco Bluegrass & Old-Time Festival, Rita Hosking returns with her band Cousin Jack to headline a show spotlighting numbers from their new CD, Come Sunrise.
Rita was raised in the mountains of eastern Shasta County, where she internalized dusty woodsheds, the scent of spring water, and the troubles of rural economies. Her musical experience began as a child at church, and under the wings of an old time jug band made up of seasoned mountain characters, and she grew up with deep regard for folk music and the power of the voice. Her soulful, bluegrass-tinged songs convey mountain life in the West with evocative images and a voice filled with raw emotion. Rita's band Cousin Jack includes Sean Feder (banjo, vocals, bass), Bill Dakin (bass, vocals, guitar), and fiddler Andy Lentz.
