Backslidin' ex-fundamentalist preacher tells all! You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you may even leap up off your seat in song as Lee Boek presents this thought-provoking, foot-stompin', poignant, behind-the-scenes look at the life of a fundamentalist evangelist.
"Confessions of a Pulpiteer," a one-man show (backed tonight by musicians Mitch Greenhill and Roberta Levitow), guides watchers on a journey through Lee's life as a free-spirited boy turned religious convert turned fundamentalist evangelist preacher. How did he get carried so deep into religion and why did he get out? It's a tale of life's unexpected turns, and a slice of American history full of humanity and struggle that resonates with today's major political and religious issues.
In addition to his career as a fundamentalist evangelist preacher, Lee has worked as a radio host, actor, writer, producer, union organizer, and champion for the under-served and wronged. He is currently the artistic director of Public Works Improvisational Theatre Company.
