stompin’ rebel harmony w/ original songs steeped in Appalachia & Eastern Europe
Faun Fables opens
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Combining the energy of urban street singing with first-rate musicianship, folk roots, and traditions from around the world, Moira Smiley & VOCO are one amazing group! The quartet creates plaintive, modal, lush original vocal music that is full of fire and emotion, drawing on traditional Eastern European and Appalachian harmony and rhythms. With a stage show that brims with joyous, improvisational energy, VOCO weaves together vibrant harmonies and awesome body percussion as they perform Moira's originals, traditional a cappella sets, and even a bit of Bartok.

Based in Los Angeles, Moira & VOCO (featuring Jess Basta, Jessica Catron, and Christine Enns) recently released the CD, circle, square, diamond, and flag, as well as being named National A Cappella Champions at the National Harmony Sweepstakes. Vermont-born Moira, who has studied everything from classical piano to early American shape note singing, re-settled in California to take a position singing with KITKA Eastern European Vocal Ensemble. She currently works internationally as a vocalist and composer for dance, theatre, and film.

Faun Fables opens tonight's show.
