A force to be reckoned with in contemporary bluegrass, Rhonda Vincent has won the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) award for Female Vocalist of the Year no less than seven times: no wonder folks like the Wall Street Journal have dubbed her the "new queen of bluegrass." Known for bridging the gap between bluegrass and mainstream country music with her hard-driving, high-energy performances, Rhonda is currently on tour promoting her latest CD, Good Thing Going (Rounder).
Born in Kirksville, Missouri, where she still resides, Rhonda's musical career started at the age of five, playing drums in her family's band, The Sally Mountain Show. Apparently, she never looked back. In addition to her vocal talents, Rhonda plays a mean mandolin, guitar, and fiddle—she also writes much of her own material, from straight-ahead bluegrass instrumentals to heartwrenching ballads.
For tonight's show, Rhonda is joined by her top-notch touring band, The Rage, also known as fiddler Hunter Berry, bassist Mickey Harris, banjo player Aaron McDaris, and guitarist/singer Ben Helson.
