Join Sligo county fiddler Oisin Mac Diarmada, guitarist Sean McElwain, and bodhran player Tristan Rosenstock of traditional Irish band Téada in celebrating the season at a special Irish Christmas performance! In addition to the lively music of this masterful young trio, the program of seasonal Irish culture features vocalist Cara Dillon, Irish harpist and concertina player Gráinne Hambly, and uilleann piper Tommy Martin. An atmospheric journey through outstanding Irish music, poetry, and solstice celebrations, the evening includes singalongs and the lively rhythms of a step dancing duo, mingled with the contemporary artistry of the first-class musical lineup.
As heard on Téada's recent release, Inne Amarach, Oisin, Sean, and Tristan plays stylish, intelligent music, its sense of fun balanced by moments of subtle delicacy. Add to this Cara's beautiful vocals, Tommy's uilleann piping, and Gráinne's graceful harp, and the performance is nothing short of irresistible.
Hailing from Northern Ireland, Cara added her angelic voice to the folk supergroup Equation in the late 1990s, before striking out on her own with an eponymous solo CD in 2001. The album firmly placed her among the leading lights of the new generation of young traditional artists emerging onto the mainstream. More recently, Cara has been featured in a major new BBC TV documentary on the history of British Folk Music, as well as in the famed 2007 BBC series "Transatlantic Sessions."
