driving old-time music, sweet harmonies, and red-hot buckdancing
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Driving stringband music, sweet country harmonies, and red-hot buckdancing—the Stairwell Sisters offer all this and more when they bring their passion for old-time country songs and rowdy fiddle tunes to the Freight for a wild, good-time evening. Energetic musicianship and tight vocal arrangements provide great listening and infectious foot-tapping, both live and on CDs like the Sisters' brand-new release, Get off Your Money.

The quintet features Lisa Berman on dobro, fiddler Stephanie Prausnitz, clawhammer banjo player and clogger extraordinaire Evie Ladin, Martha Hawthorne on bass, and Sue Sandlin on guitar and tiple—and naturally, they ALL sing. Influenced by such favorites as Hazel Dickens & Alice Gerrard, the Stanley Brothers, and Tommy Jarrell, the gals spark both familiar and obscure songs to life, with plenty of smart, original material to spice up the mix.
