Thinking About Morton Feldman
Door 7:30 P.M., Music 8:00 P.M. | Purchase advance tickets: $18.50

Three world-class improvising musicians team up on our stage for meditative sets of music. Vladimir Tarasov (percussion), Mark Dresser (bass), and Larry Ochs (saxophones) rarely perform as a unit, and the concerts are always memorable: unique, entirely improvised sound-explorations among three musicians whose ability to listen and respond shines forth in live performance. One major focus is the music of composer Morton Feldman, whose fascination with "nuance" in sound is the place that this trio visits most often in its quiet, melodic, and sensuous improvisations.

Vladimir Tarasov is best known as the drummer of "The Ganelin Trio," a USSR jazz band that was enormously revolutionary and influential in the Eastern Bloc in the 1970s and '80s. Mark Dresser is best known as the bass player in Anthony Braxton's most legendary quartet from the 1980s. Larry Ochs has been a member of Rova Sax Quartet since 1979.
