Geoff Muldaur is known for making traditional gospel, folk, and blues styles his own in an unusual process he calls "Muldaurizing," wrapping his polished guitar playing and riveting, otherworldly voice around unusually crafted interpretations of classic, often obscure, American material as well as his own unique compositions.
As a founding member and lead singer of two seminal groups, The Jim Kweskin Jug Band and Paul Butterfield's Better Days, Geoff has earned a place in American musical history. With his more recent work, Geoff has carved out a varied and impressive new career, touring the world and releasing two solo albums, as well as a CD on the Deutsche Grammophon label dedicated to the music of legendary cornetist, Bix Beiderbecke. He has continued to write music for documentary film and horn arrangements (recently for B.B. King and Linda Thompson), and is a frequent guest on Garrison Keillor's A Prairie Home Companion.
Geoff plays solo tonight (although you never know who might show up), wowing listeners as usual with his unique finger-picking and his beautiful, quavering singing style.
