Irish vocalist Karan Casey returns with her lovely, masterful interpretations of traditional and contemporary songs. A distinctive voice in Irish music today, Karan's forceful, haunting soprano sends a strong social message through her ever-enlightened choice of repertoire and her sensitive approach to themes of love and oppression.

Since the late '90s when she left the renowned Irish-American supergroup, Solas (which she helped found), Karan has released several acclaimed solo CDs, bringing increasing quantities of contemporary material into her work. On her recent Chasing the Sun (Shanachie), she continues along this path, including many samples of her own fine songwriting, while maintaining the acoustic energy and moody lyricism of traditional Irish music.

Karan is joined tonight by her band, guitarist Robbie Overson, pianist Caoimhín Vallely, and cellist Kate Ellis.
