It's been a few years since Tempest last blew the doors off the Freight, and we're glad to have them back! A mainstay at Celtic festivals across the U.S., this high-energy folk-rock band fuses traditional Irish, Scottish, and Scandinavian influences with a contemporary ear for that which rocks, performing inventive originals and traditional tunes with a winning combination of fine-honed skill and unapologetic panache. Tonight they spotlight material new and old, including plenty of numbers from their recent CD, The Double-Cross.
Hailing from Oslo, Norway, founding member and lead singer/electric mandolinist Lief Sorbye is a driving force in the modern folk-rock movement. The band also features founding member and unstoppable show-stealer Michael Mullen on fiddle, the fire-breathing Damien Gonzalez on bass, Devon native James Crocker on guitar, and Cuban-born drummer Adolfo Lazo, who colors the band's sound with his inventive percussion.
